Who We Are
A commonly heard refrain among investors is “these results are not what we expected.” While the immediate source of this “disconnect” is likely poor investment results, the true cause may be quite different. It may spring from a misstatement of investment objectives, a risk profile poorly defined, or return expectations set unrealistically high.
The complexity and volatility of today’s investment markets has “raised the bar”, in terms of both the available opportunity set and the practical definition of risk. Increasingly burdensome regulatory, accounting and tax issues have further complicated the investment equation. Clearly, in such an environment, the pursuit of a well-crafted investment program can challenge the skill set of not only an individual investor, but also an experienced corporate manager.
Shamrock was formed to assist both investor groups in achieving an appropriate alignment between investment policies and practices, asset allocation and portfolio composition, and re-defined risk and return parameters. Hopefully, such alignment will inject greater clarity into the investment process, while further delimiting risk and enhancing returns.

Shamrock is committed to assisting the client in formulating / evaluating the ingredients that both vector his investment journey and serve as metrics upon which the results of the journey can be measured. Our advisors focus on the following key elements of a client's investment policy:
- identifying the investment objective(s);
- describing the risk and return parameters;
- developing an appropriate asset allocation;
- composing investment guidelines;
- calculating investment returns.
Performance Attribution
Shamrock may be retained to provide an assessment of the performance record of the retained investment manager(s). The assessment would include performance attribution, peer group analysis and guideline compliance.
Corporate Finance
Shamrock may serve as an originator or an independent evaluator of corporate acquisition / liquidation agreements. This service can be positioned either within or outside the client industry and can include preliminary, in-depth analyses of client-directed opportunity sets.
For corporate clients, in addition to an individual assignment, the above services can be accessed on an ongoing basis as the client’s “external” Chief Investment Officer, as a corporate director, or as a member of a standing committee of the Board.
